A Therapeutic Day Outing for 50 Fifth Grade Children from Sderot
On January 25th, Operation Embrace sponsored a Yom Keif (a therapeutic day outing) for 50 fifth grade children who suffer from trauma and live in the Sderot area, called Sadot Ha'negev.
The therapeutic outing took place at Park Ra'anana where we organized 20 plus volunteers who led different activities. Mayor Nahum Hofri, the mayor of Ra'anana joined the children in a circle and gave them words of encouragement and hope.
The children participated in a packed day of activities that included sports, art projects, lunch, a treasure hunt and they just had fun running around in the Park. Since the time these children were born, they most likely skipped learning how to walk and only learned how to run to shelters after every tzeva adom (Kassam rocket alarm). It was a new experience to have such freedom for such great lengths of time in a park. This was an incredibly beautiful day.
The kids colored a special poster that said "Eretz Yisrael b'atid" and it depicts an idyllic place. Below are some pictures from the Yom Keif day.
