In August 2011, Nati, as he is called sustained severe injuries to his legs when a grad missile landed near him in Be’er Sheva. One of his legs was amputated, while doctors worked aggressively to save the other leg. Nati and his family participated in an OE shabbaton with mission participants from the U.S. Jackie Somekhian, a mission participant (born in Tehran), overheard a woman speaking Farsi. This woman was Nati’s mother. Within seconds, the two women began to cry and scream. They soon realized that they were good friends in the same elementary school in Tehran, close to 40 years ago. Pictured above: Jackie and Nati.
